An Internet T1 line is a high-speed connection to the Internet over a dedicated copper, fiber, or Ethernet using a telecom standard that was developed by AT&T Bell Labs for North America and Japan.

An Internet T1 line transmits at a speed of 1.544 megabits per second (Mbps) and usually connects directly to a large fiber optic backbone.
